Dr Aagje Bais is a Dutch Gynaecologist, living and working in the United Arab Emirates for the past 7 years. She has her private practice with Mediclinic Dubai, the second largest healthcare provider in the UAE. Her practice is based in the Arabian Ranches, a large exclusive private community in Dubai. She received her education from the top ranking Erasmus Medical University in The Netherlands, where she received her PhD on HPV. During her education she was a frequently asked speaker on international conferences on HPV and premalignant cervical lesions. She was the first person who introduced the self sampling technique as a screening method. For this she received several awards for her ground-breaking self sampling study on HPV. Since completing her thesis in 2007 she is still frequently asked as an expert on the HPV screening field, and functions as Board member of two European advisory committees on Cervical cancer. She made her move to Dubai when she was headhunted to set up the entire Ob/Gyn department in a brand new large hospital in the UAE. After this she gained valuable experience in also setting up and running private clinics . Currently she has a successful clinic in Dubai, practicing gynaecology, with special interest in the vulva area, in particular cosmetic gynaecology. On top of that she is an active blogger in the leading Dutch Medical Opinion Magazine ‘Medisch Contact’, Co-founder of medical platform Dutch Doctors Dubai, appeared on several (inter)national radio shows, and is frequently asked to provide presentations to the female staff of large organisations in The Middle East.
