Obstetrics and Gynaecology

Dr Sabahat Sabir is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in NHS England, with thirty years of experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She has private privileges at Spire Dewsbury and Elland hospitals. She is a Member of the Royal College of Obstetrician and Gynaecologist (RCOG) and is Fellow of College of Physicians and Surgeon Pakistan (Obstetrics and Gynaecology). She had professional diploma in Aesthetic Gynaecology from International Aesthetic Genital Surgery and Sexology and American Society of Cosmetic Physicians. She regularly performs a variety of gynaecological surgeries by open and laparoscopic (keyhole) approach. Her special interests include minimally invasive treatments for heavy and irregular menstrual bleeding such as endometrial ablation, polyp removal and fibroid resection by hysteroscopy. In addition to this, she deals with early pregnancy complications such as recurrent miscarriages and cervical incompetence, having completed RCOG accredited advanced training in early pregnancy complications and acute gynaecology. Cosmetic Gynaecology: Being a senior member of European Aesthetic Gynaecology Society she keep her knowledge and skills up to date in this rapidly evolving field where she contributes more effectively to improve women’s intimate health and general wellbeing. She is competent in performing a gamut of surgical (perineorrhaphy, labiaplasty) and non-surgical/ minimally invasive procedures for vaginal rejuvenation, stress urinary incontinence, Lichen sclerosis and treatment of vaginismus. Research Activities: She contributed to a Randomised National clinical trial called “C-Stitch. The aim of the study was to evaluate clinical risk assessment such as infective morbidity and pregnancy outcome for mum and baby in relation to suture material used for cervical stitch in cases of cervical incompetence. She also contributed to a randomised double blind, placebo-controlled trial to look at role of Progesterone in women presenting with bleeding in early pregnancy. Her skills and experience have aggregated to help continue her goal to improve healthcare and provide the utmost care to her patients.
