Introduction and Objective
Urinary tract infections (UTI) are one of the most prevalent conditions worldw...de, affecting mainly older women. Menopause is associated with lower oestrogen levels, thus less acidic vaginal environment due to lower stimulation of Lactobacillus critical in synthesising lactic acid, increasing risk of UTIs. Such women often end up on long-term antibiotics. With rising bacterial resistance, there is a pressing need to find alternatives.
